Our History

Pickering Motors Ltd has been proudly serving the Taranaki coast for over 87 years, building a trusted reputation for reliability and quality service. The company was founded by Edward and Connie Pickering and later managed by their sons Peter and Gerald. For the past 20 years, Tracey Jury, Gerald’s daughter, has led the business as Managing Director. Under her leadership, Pickering Motors has remained 100% locally owned and operated, continuing the family’s long-standing commitment to the region.

Since the late 1930s, we’ve partnered with the Ministry of Education, providing dependable school transport services and supporting local students and families for generations. Over the years Pickering Motors has diversified to provide a range of services for the local community including postal and courier services, regional bus services, and charters. Our story is one of growth, adaptation, and strong local roots — values that continue to guide us today.

At Pickering Motors, we offer a wide range of transport and delivery services, combining decades of experience with modern technology and a focus on serving our local communities.

We continue to modernise our fleet and evolve our services to meet the needs of the community we serve. Our goal is simple — to deliver dependable transport with a personal touch, while keeping Taranaki connected.
